Nigeria billionaire unnoticed by fellow passengers in public bus

Nigerian billionaire who made his money through oil business, Femi Otedola, opted to pick a commercial bus which action has gone viral on social media.

The 55-year-old was traveling between two suburbs in Nigeria’s commercial city, Lagos, according to the video’s caption on an Instagram post he put up on Wednesday.

Local media portals say, despite being worth over a billion dollars and being among Nigeria’s top five richest people, his fellow commuters did not recognize who he was.

Otedola is described as a businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is Chairman of Forte Poil PLC, an importer of fuel products into Africa’s biggest economy.

People on social media have been reading different meanings into his action. Whereas some claim its a publicity stunt backed by political ambitions; to others it is a loss to the commuters for not taking advantage of a rare meeting with a billionaire – in dollars not naira.
