Ethiopia Prime Minister has condoled with the Dangote group after its country manager was killed in an attack in the Oromia region on Wednesday.
Local media reported that Deep Kamara was killed along with two other Ethiopian workers of the Dangote factory.
The car they were travelling in came under armed attack by assailants as they were returning from the capital Addis Ababa. The police have since launched a hunt for the perpetrators.
“The company’s director died following an attack by unknown gunmen that took place while he was returning to Addis Ababa from the factory alongside two company employees,” a government statement said.
“Security forces are currently pursuing the assailants,” it added. The statement called on residents in the area to help gather details. The Dangote plant – Ethiopia’s largest cement producer – was inaugurated in May 2015.
Representatives of the company in Nigeria were not immediately available for comment but reports said CEO and Africa’ richest man Aliko Dangote was due in Ethiopia.
